Quilting หรือเรียกง่ายๆว่า การด้นมือ งาน Quilt (ควิลท์) ก็คือการนำผ้า 3 ชั้น มาเย็บติดกันโดยการ Quilting
ผ้า 3 ชั้น ประกอบไปด้วย
[ What is Quilting ?
Quilting is a sewing method to adjoin together the layers of fabric and/or other materials.Typical Quilting has 3 layers; Decorative Tops, Batting and Backing Fabric. ]
ผ้าชั้นบน (Decorative Top) คือ ผ้าชั้นนอกสุดเป็นผ้าที่มีลวดลายต่างๆ และตกแต่งผ้าเสริมด้วยเทคนิคต่างๆ เช่น การปะผ้า (การปะผ้า หรือที่เรียกว่า Applique ของเราส่วนใหญ่ใช้การสอยด้วยมือ และการเนาถี่ๆ)
ชั้นกลาง (ฺBatting) ส่วนที่เป็นใยสังเคราะห์ เช่น ใยโพลีเอสเตอร์ เป็นต้น
ผ้าพื้นซับใน (Backing Fabric) เป็นผ้าที่มีลวดลายหรือเป็นผ้าสีพื้นสีเดียวก็ได้
นำผ้าทั้งหมด 3 ส่วน มาประกอบกัน เย็บด้วยการด้นมือ (Quilting) ให้เกิดเป็นชิ้นงานที่มีลวดลายสวยงาม และมีความคงทน
[ Decorative Tops is the top layer which may contain a variety of pattern, fabrics, styles and techniques i.e. applique and patchwork. Batting is the middle layer between the decorative top layer and backing layer. Batting can be cotton, Polyester, etc. Backing is the bottom layer of a quilt.]
Applique การปะผ้า เพื่อสร้างลวดลายลงบนผ้าชั้นบน เราใช้วิธีการสอยด้วยมือ และการเนาถี่ๆ

Applique is another sewing method which small pieces of fabric are sewn together on the fabric to create designs. "Dresden Plate" and "Sunbonnet Sue" are just two examples of well-known quilt blocks that use both patchwork and appliqué to construct. ]
